Aughisky or Agishki is an Irish variant of the water horse myth, that is considered around the same creature as (or a variant of) the Each-uisge. They are said to live in sea bays (or lakes) and gallop out of the crashing waves up onto the shore, venturing inland. They are said to make excellent mounts if one manages to catch one inland but once they see or hear the sea, they go mad and return to their home in the waves, drowning, tearing apart and devouring their rider. They are omnivores said to eat both seaweed and fish and journeying inland to eat livestock (and women, according to some sources). A famous one within Lough Treagh, Connemara was said to have beaten people it came across.
