Farnaca

The Farnaca is a female bird-like creature of the Catalan popular bestiary within Cambrils. It is depicted with the body, wings and head of a moixó (a small bird), legs and tail of reptile (possibly a dragon), tail tuft and small patch of a mane of a lion (that is behind the head), and horns of a goat. It was inspired by sculptural elements on the facade of the church of Santa Maria de Cambrils, depicted in high-relief, of a mythological figure that was similar to the griffin. It has a child, the Farnaqueta, who looks just like its mother but only smaller.
