Thought to be the descendants of Ancient Greek nymphs who escaped the advance of Christianity in the Mediterranean, these French faeries normally resemble much smaller versions of their past selves, and behave much like other faeries, guarding caves and forests and replacing human children with changelings. At night, travellers are advised to sing loudly so they're not mistaken for threats by the faeries. By day, the Fayettes take the forms of moles with human-like hands and enjoy ravaging human gardens.
