The Lagopus (meaning “Hare foot”), also known as Ptarmihare, Lagepus or Lagephus is an avian/lagomorph creature with the head and feet of an arctic hare (or snowshoe hare) and the body and wings of an arctic ptarmigan. These snow avain hares having a size of a wild pigeon but it is all white covered in snow.
The lagopus doesn’t eat in the open air and having made that conclusion, but it’s only logical that it must carry its food into the cave to eat it. However, the further logical deduction that a lagopus can’t fly well.
