A Mare, Mopa (and several other names) is a malicious creature in German and Slavic mythology and folklore that sits on the chest of sleeping people, causing nightmares. Some Mares may even suck blood while other may also ride on top animals and trees as well. There are several variations of this creature's appearance and full attitude that depend on the specific Slavic-based region.
