Nonell de la neu or Nonell the dog (Catalan: El gos Nonell) is a canine transformed human in Catalan mythology within the Pyrenees mountain region. He appears as a Large (around the size of a horse), thick shaggy-furred dog with fur so white that he ends up blending into the snow, making him hard to find. The only indication of his presence is blackened eyes and sometimes, blacken muzzle. He appears often with the first snow. He was once a human Innkeeper that charmed women with his good looking beard and golden hair. However, as soon as he married one women, he would leave her and marry another women. This would make the women who he left, eventually, die of grief. He did this to 7 women before meeting an 8th one during a winter day with her father. This 8th young woman was described to have dark hair and skin that was as white as snow but unlike the other women, she did not quick fall in love with Nonell. this did not stop Nonell from falling in love with her and asking her to marry him. The women agrees under one condition. He had to win it. The woman (and her father) rides on horseback and Nonell is forced to follow them by foot. At first, this was easy but he eventually began to struggle, due to the speed of the horses. The women took this opportunity to taunt him in sing-along tone within something along the lines of: "You killed one, you killed two, you killed three, you killed four, you killed five, you killed six, you killed seven but you will not kill the eighth because you will die for her." Desperate and not willing to lose this woman, Nonell exclaimed: "I wish I could turn into a dog." and so he did. He turned into the dog (that was described above) and continued to give chase. Even with his new form, he eventually lost the woman.
