Werereptile (plural: Werereptiles)(were-reptile)/Werereptilian (plural: Werereptilians)(were-reptilian), Were Reptile, Reptile Man, Were-Reptile, or Reptile-Man, also known as the Reptilianthrope (plural: Reptilianthropes), Reptilianthropy(plural: Reptilianthropies), or Reptilianthropic (plural: Reptilianthropics) is a zoanthropic supernatural or cursed transformation of a human into a reptile-based creature. These transformations can range from full reptile animal forms to hybrids with both human and reptiloid features. Unlike mammalianthropies, the reptilianthropes often embody stealth, survival, cunning, disease, decay, or unexpected intelligence. Some may also carry mythic or symbolic roles—pestilence-bearers, guardians of hidden things, or avatars of adaptation and secrecy.
“They say the werereptile walks when the heat of the earth rises and the moon hangs low and red, swollen with omens. Unlike the weremammal, whose curse is bound to the pull of the full moon, the werereptile answers to older forces—desert winds, jungle mists, and the pulse of the primordial swamps. Its skin cracks and peels away in the change, revealing a body of glistening scales, muscles coiled like serpents beneath. Its eyes lose all trace of man, becoming vertical slits that drink in every flicker of motion, every tremor of prey. Silent and patient, it does not hiss nor roar—it watches, it waits. And when it strikes, it is swift and cold, as if the warmth of humanity never touched it at all. Elders speak of warriors who vanished into the wilds and returned with tongues forked and hearts gone still. They say the werereptile is not merely cursed—it is chosen, claimed by something ancient beneath the earth, a force that remembers when the world belonged to cold-blooded gods and humans had yet to crawl from the muck.”
